The Manhattan Edit Workshop Six Week Intensive Workshop is a comprehensive, hands-on video editing and post-production training program designed for anyone serious about building a career as a professional editor. Whether you’re starting your filmmaking career, transitioning into post-production, or advancing your creative skills, this immersive program combines professional editing software training with the art and craft of visual storytelling.
Students gain practical, real-world experience with industry-standard tools including Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, and DaVinci Resolve while developing the creative, technical, and professional skills used by editors working in film, television, documentary, and digital media.
More than a software course, the Six Week Intensive provides a foundation in professional editing workflows, storytelling, career development, and the creative decision-making behind great editing—helping students build their skills, their reel, and their path toward a career in post-production.

Artist in Residence
The Artist-in-Residence is a core component of the workshop. Top film editors join the class to screen and discuss their work, while students share their edits for comments and critique. Take the Avid user certification exams for free. Once certified, use Avid's logo on your resume and website to get an edge over other job applicants. We are the only Six Week Program to offer certification in both the MC 101 and MC 110 workshops & tests (combined, these equal the Avid Certified User for Media Composer).

SIX WEEK INTENSIVE WORKSHOP ONLINE INFORMATION:
Manhattan Edit Workshop is now running our Six Week Intensive Workshop online and in-person for the next class date. If students take the class online, they will get all the information and hours from our regular Six Week Intensive workshop (Monday - Friday from 10 am - 5 pm with an hour lunch), just remotely. All media and projects will be provided online, with screenings and discussions occurring on Zoom. Students will need to obtain an Avid license from Avid, obtain a license from Blackmagic Design for DaVinci Resolve, and obtain an Adobe Premiere Pro license for the duration of the class. These can be purchased separately, or Manhattan Edit Workshop can direct students to free or temporary options. Please make sure that your home computer specs are up to standard to handle these applications prior to taking the workshop. Manhattan Edit Workshop administration will do a trial run the week before the class begins with each student to verify that everything is working.
Online Class Highlights:
All lessons and discussions will be live and not recorded versions.
The same amount of one-on-one time and attention that students receive for our in-person workshop. The 6 to 1 teacher to student ratio is maintained.
Remote Adobe Premiere Pro & DaVinci Resolve training (weeks 1 & 2).
Remote Avid Media Composer training (weeks 3 & 4).
Remote Screenings and discussions (weeks 1 - 4).
Remote Artist in Residence experience with an accomplished editor (scheduled during weeks 5 & 6).
Remote instruction on resume and cover letters (weeks 5 & 6).
Remote editing and one-on-one review of editing Manhattan Edit Workshop-provided projects for students’ reels.
Ability to submit and apply to our Intern Referral program.
Ability to take both Avid Certification tests remotely.

Our Six Week Intensive is Monday through Friday, 10 AM - 5 PM. The classroom will also be open to Six Week students Monday - Friday from 5 PM - 6 PM for lab time (schedule permitting).

*Manhattan Edit Workshop will be closed and the Six Week Intensive will be closed on the following days to observe National holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. These dates will not be made up for the class if they fall within the timeframe of a Six Week Intensive Workshop.
