NEW YORK, NY — Manhattan Edit Workshop (MEWShop), the cutting-edge training destination for post-production education, is proud to announce editor Jon Philpot as its newest Artist in Residence for the upcoming Six Week Intensive workshop beginning June 22nd, 2026.
Known for his acclaimed work on Hacks, Search Party, and Theater Camp, Philpot brings a wealth of industry experience and creative insight to MEWShop’s flagship immersive training program. Throughout the six-week intensive, students will receive hands-on instruction in Adobe Premiere Pro and Avid Media Composer while developing a professional editing reel designed to prepare them for careers in film, television, and digital media.
As Artist in Residence, Philpot will work with students through mentorship sessions, project feedback, workflow demonstrations, and discussions centered around storytelling, pacing, collaboration, and the realities of professional editing.
The Six Week Intensive is designed for aspiring editors, filmmakers, content creators, and professionals looking to strengthen both their technical skills and creative instincts in a real-world post-production environment.
“Jon’s work consistently demonstrates sharp comedic timing, emotional storytelling, and a deep understanding of character,” says Jason Banke, President of Manhattan Edit Workshop. “Having someone actively working at the highest level of television and film collaborate directly with our students is exactly what makes this program so valuable.”
In addition to software training, students gain experience with professional editorial workflows, assistant editor techniques, reel development, and collaborative editing practices used throughout the entertainment industry.
“Editing is such a collaborative art form,” says Jon Philpot. “I’m excited to work with students as they develop their voice, refine their instincts, and learn how to shape story through the edit.”
MEWShop’s Artist in Residence program connects students with award-winning editors and filmmakers currently working in the industry, giving participants direct access to mentorship and professional insight rarely available in traditional classroom settings.
The Six Week Intensive begins June 22nd, 2026. Early bird pricing ends June 1st, and space is limited.
